World Cancer Day

Today it’s World Cancer Day, a subject that continues to be extremely close to my heart, so I wanted to help raise awareness by drawing attention to it.

So what is world cancer day?

A truly global event taking place every year on 4 February, World Cancer Day unites the world’s population in the fight against cancer.

It aims to save millions of preventable deaths each year by raising awareness and education about the disease, pressing governments and individuals across the world to take action.

Why am I so interested?

I’m not going to go in to too much detail in this post because my mother survived her battle with cancer and while it’s a huge part of who she is, it definitely doesn’t define her.

Yet nonetheless it was a part of my childhood and watching her suffer has always left an indelible mark on me. I’ve always been conscious of developments in cancer research, I’m always interested in fundraising efforts or awareness causes, so today is definitely important to me.

I have written about this post in the past, so if you are interested in more information you can check that out.

What can I do?

  1. Write a post about anything that feature the c-word! Perhaps it’s a post reminding people to get checked over, to check themselves over or about the charities that help with cancer based matters.
  2. Donate money if you can afford to do so.
  3. Volunteer in anyway that you possibly can.
  4. Challenge yourself to do something huge for charity.
