The perfect nude lipstick is a bit like the holy grail, it remains mythical and allusive to all that continue to seek it but once found it’s cherished and adored, becoming an important part of one’s day to day life. Or so I’m told, because sadly for me the noble quest continues.
I’ve already ransacked the high-street on my search and sure I’ve found a few decent offerings but I’m looking for perfection, a lipstick that I never want to be without and that my readers is what I am yet to find. I guess what I want is not just a nude lipstick, I’m looking for a “nearly nude but with a bit of something, something” lipstick, if you know what I mean? So when I recently placed a MAC order and noticed that Velvet Teddy was back in stock, I knew it was time to take the leap. I’m always cautious with products that come with a huge dollop of hype and this was no different but throwing caution to the wind I was actually rather excited to give it a try.
Velvet Teddy is pink-toned nude with delicate brown and mauve undertones, adding a gorgeous “mine but better” effect to the lips. I tend to find that my lips disappear once nude lippie is applied but this pretty shade has enough colour to pack a punch and while it remains perfect for work and school, it also adds some definition. Once this lipstick was applied, my lips looked a whole lot plumper and it added a polished finish to my otherwise basic make-up look. As with all MAC lippies, this lipstick smells of delicious coco butter and is seriously nourishing, perfect for an every day hue. The best thing about this lipstick is that it’s low maintenance, once applied this lipstick lasted the best part of four hours and it took me next to no time to top it up.
This is really gorgeous shade and while I’m still not completely convinced that it’s the “one”, it’s possibly one of my one’s and I can imagine that I’ll be using it a lot over the coming months.
