I don’t watch a lot of TV and I tend to miss out on the “must watch” specials, however when it comes to Netflix my game is on point. I use Netflix on a daily basis and I try to keep up with the latest cult drops.
I’ve sampled a few, loved a handful and hated a couple and in today’s post, I thought that I would share my opinions on the Netflix Cult classics.
Black Mirror //
I didn’t watch the first or second series of Black Mirror because I didn’t really know anything about it. But when the third season was released, I was definitely intrigued. Around the time that the third season was launched, I was ill and therefore had the opportunity to binge watch it. I absolutely loved this show and have since watched a number of episodes repeatedly. It’s insightful and it really makes you think.
Making a Murderer //
I love true crime as you might have guessed from my recent shift in blog content and so naturally, this show really interested me. I loved it and have since been to see Jerry Buting and Dean Strang live. It’s a truly eye-opening documentary that shines the spotlight on flaws in the justice system in American and internationally. I honestly believe that Dassey had nothing to do with the murder but was the victim of an awful miscarriage of justice. I have written a post about this in the past. I also really love the latest true crime series on Netflix, The Keeper.
Orphan Black //
I really tried to get into this TV show and for the first few episodes, I was hooked. However, since then I have completely lost interest in it and cannot see myself returning to it anytime soon.
13 reasons why //
I had really mixed views on this controversial TV show but overall I really enjoyed it. I think it’s an excellent conversation starter, deals with some really heavy issues and does in an admirably honest manner. I also read the book and while it was considerably different from the TV show, I kind of liked the book too.
I wasn’t really interested in this TV show when I first saw it on Netflix. However, having watched 13 reasons why I decided to give this a shot too. I surprisingly liked it actually and I think that’s because of the gritty nature of it.
What are your thoughts on these shows?
