Think Pink

ME 9

Pink is everywhere, from makeup to the increasingly popular pink coat, it is currently in huge demand and is a trend is set to get even bigger! From pastel pink to the bold and shocking Spring/Summer 2014 will see an explosion of this colour! London Fashion Week saw all brands working the colour into their SS14 ranges. On the JS Lee catwalk it was all about the tailored look with pink shift dresses and perfectly pretty suits, while Burberry embraced the pink coat!

Whether you love it or fear looking like a wannabe Barbie, it is a trend that is well worth the investment! Here are my top tips for working the colour now!

Make-Up. Pink lips were massive on the JS Lee catwalk, and with party season upon us, a pink lip makes the perfect alternative to a berry pout! I love the bright, blue toned example I’m wearing in the above picture (it’s one of the Bourjois Rouge edition’s but I can’t find it to check the name!). Don’t fancy a pink lip? I tend to avoid pink eyeshadow, because I think it can look too young but try working a pink nail into your routine!

Pink Coat. There are lots and lots of these on the high-street at the moment, and there is guaranteed to be one for everyone! I love the “boyfriend” styled coats, because these are nice and spacious for winter layering!

Pink Jeans. I have always loved coloured jeans, and there are lots of pink-hued variates out there! Add a pair of light rose coloured skinnies for an instant style update!

Avoid a too heavy contrast! Pink and black CAN look good together, but this season’s pink is all about subtlety and is best worn in rose coloured shades. Instead of a harsh contrast of black and pink, try matching it with fellow pastel colours! Like this pretty look below.
