Last week when I sat down to write my posts for the week, I had a sudden realisation that it’s been over a year since I started this blog and I’ve not done anything to celebrate that simple achievement. A year might not seem like a very long time in the grand scheme of things but for me and in this wonderful blogging world, it is an eternity. I’ve lost count of the number of blogs I’ve started over the years, written a few posts before soon giving in but this time I’ve actually managed to keep this blog going. I mean sure there have been times when I’ve let things slip slightly, the past few months being a fine example, but nonetheless I am still here.
The thing is, recently I’ve lost some motivation, I’m not sure why but here’s hoping it all comes back soon.
It’s taken a lot of time, handwork and discipline to not give in at times but ultimately I love blogging and the feeling I get when someone comments or likes a post is well worth the hardship.
Beauty blogging has been an extremely interesting journey and it’s completely changed my relationship with make-up, something I wanted to take some time to reflect on. I think sometimes we need to take a moment and look back to see how far we have really come, so I’ve decided to create my own TAG to help.
1. Why I created this blog?
I have always loved make-up, fashion and beauty, so last year when I was feeling a tiny bit lost in this big bad world, I decided that a beauty blog was exactly what I needed. I guess I created it because I wanted somewhere to share my thoughts on everything, to express my passion and just for something to look forward to. My little space in the world so to speak and hence this little space was created.
2. My blog has helped me…
God where to start. My blog has really helped me build my confidence in ways that I could have never imagined and I’ve gone from being reluctant to share my blog to introducing myself as “I’m Kay, you should have a look at my blog”. I think there just comes a point in time when you want your handwork to be noticed and in that situation, you just have to throw all your worries away. I reached that point about 2/3 months in to my blogging journey and I’ve had it ever since.
3. How has your relationship with make-up changed?
My relationship with make-up has changed in a massive way and I am so much more adventurous with my make-up choices. I’m still a nude, natural, barely there kinda girl but now I’m not afraid to add a statement lip, something I defiantly hid from before.
4. The biggest make-up lesson I’ve learnt…
That sometimes and it is with a very heavy heart that I admit this, the more expensive items really are the best. I love a bargain and I love the high-street for my day to day shopping needs but since starting this blog I have fallen in love with a number of luxe items.
5. My favourite beauty look…
I love the very first picture in the above collage, the one with the minx like blue flick. This picture is over 3 years old now and it still remains one of my favourite ever looks, I wore that liner to death in university. In fact I have sudden urge to recreate it, so watch this space…
6. Who I want to relive their blogging journey…
1. Beauty in Beta- because you were so supportive of me and your blog still remains one of my all time favourites. Beth seems like such a sweet person and I really hope we get to meet one day!
2. Inside Laura’s head– because you have helped me in solo many ways and your only just starting out on here. Everyone give Laura a follow….once you’ve finished here of course.
What about your beauty journey?
