Working in an office environment can sometimes feel quite restrictive in a fashion sense, there are only so many dresses and trouser suits out there and remaining trendy while dressing comfortable and smart can sometimes be a bit of a challenge. In the fast of a seasonal post, I am going to offer my personal tips and tricks on how you dress fashionable in a manner that is suitable for an office environment.
1. Trippie Trousers.
Trouser suits are a wardrobe staple, a classic but generally there is only so much that you can do with them. Instead of buying a perfectly matching suit, why not buy a pair of quirky patterned trousers like these houndstooth pants from New Look. For a safe option chose black and white, mix with pastels or metallic’s for an instant fashion bonus. If you’re bold and brave then pick a bold flower print or a pop of bold colour and wear with clashing or white accessories. For some added fashion points why not pick a pair with a stripe down the side, think Adidas meets Chanel and work the sports luxe trend in to your office wear.
2- Dress to Impress
Tailored business dresses are my go to look when it comes to office wear, but there are only so many styles and cuts out there. To change your look up slightly, change the shape and style of your dress and take yourself out of your comfort zone. I have been really loving the the drop waist style dress, like this VB version and have added several of these to my collection.
If your a bit a reluctant to change from your current style or shape, then why not change the colour! Go for pastel shades in sorbet colour’s such as pale mint or powder blue, and wear with delicate jewels. This Marks and Spencer beauty is at the top of my current wish list and I cannot wait to pick one up!
Alternatively look for lace versions of your favorite dresses, again looking for the pastel shades.
When I’m getting ready for work I face the same dilemma as many woman across the country, the smart but uncomfortable heel or the comfy but boring flat…This season the choice is being made much easier as heels were seen all across the catwalk! Pick flats that have a little something to them and for extra height, look for one’s that leave most of your foot bare. If you are completely against given up your trusty heels then why not opt for this season’s block or Cuban heel trend?
