It feels like an eternity since I last wrote a beauty review (heck it feels like ages since I last wrote anything) but I’ve decided that it’s time to dust off my beauty reviewing skills because readers, I’ve found a winner! I’ve recently discovered the Smashbox Double Exposure Palette and I’m in love, so I simply had to tell you all about it. (Smashbox Double Exposure Palette, Boots, £38.00).
Smashbox Double Exposure Palette
So what about the packaging?
This eye-wateringly beautiful palette is set in the chicest of packing and it’s sleek, compact design makes it uber easy to travel with. It’s colour variety only adds to it’s travel worthy allure because why carry 6 shades when you can have them all in one? It also comes with a good quality double ended brush, perfect for creating a well-blended look.
And what about the colours?
The Smashbox Double Exposure Palette is cleverly designed to contain the most convenient of shades with each matte having it’s own co-ordianting shimmer, creating a versatile, day to night kind of perfection.
The shade variety is what sold me this palette because the colour range is to die for and while it still contains my safe bet colours (nudes, browns and taupes), it also holds colours that usually set my heart a flutter. These days I’m not one for wearing bright colours on my lid but it is Christmas and in honour of the festive season I’ve been broadening my showdowing horizons. I absolutely love the deep blue and pastel-purple’s in this palette and I can promise that they will feature in my December favourites.
These shadows are literally magic because all you have to do is add a little water and the colours change their appearance dramatically!
“Each shadow changes in one of four ways when wet—amps up vibrancy, gets deeper, turns metallic or adds sparkle—so the possibilities really are endless.”
This little secret makes an already versatile palette all the more versatile and in effect turns 12 shades in to 24.
So what about the quality?
As you might expect or at least hope from a higher range product, these eyeshadows are a gorgeous quality and apply to the eyelid like a dream, They have a creamy texture and even the shimmer shadows blend without hassle, making it easy to create a perfect blended look.
I’ve found that other shimmer shadows tend to be rather gritty in texture and even my beloved Naked palette has fallen victim to this tragedy, but somehow Smashbox have created an incredible formula. A shimmer shadow that somehow remains free from fall out and has a buttery, easy to work with finish.
The Smashbox Double Exposure Palette is absolutely delightful and has quickly risen to the top of my beauty must have’s. The quality is absolutely gorgeous and unrivalled in my collection because every single shade is beautiful, both in look and feel.
It’s a winner and if you can I would suggest you add this to your Christmas list?
