Can you believe that it’s November already? This year really has flown by and Christmas is just around the corner but for thousands of wannabe authors November actually has another meaning too.
That’s right ladies and gents, November is National Novel Writing month and once again I have decided to take part!
I’ve mentioned my desire to write a novel time and time again and I bet you’re all thinking here we go again. So let me tell you a little secret- this time it’s a lot different because this time I actually have a deadline.
I can’t really real tell you much more than that at the moment but I can tell you that I am writing a novel and that it’s the same story as before. I can also tell you that I finally have a pretty detailed novel plan, a blueprint for how things are going to go inside my little (not so little) novel and that feels like a huge step forward.
The problem I’ve had is that I really want my novel to feel authentic (it’s a historical one) so I’ve spent a painstaking amount of time researching and finding as much detail as I can. I never realised how hard writing a historical novel would be, I want it to have enough fact that it’s believable but no so much fact that it takes away from the story.
And fitting six years in to 60,000 words or less is really, really hard!
Anyway we are making progress and for the first time in ages I am actually enjoying writing, something that I haven’t done for a long, long time.
So who else fancies joining me in this challenge? Could you write 50,000 words in a month?
