We are only 4 days in to the new year and I wonder how many of us have already abandoned our new year resolutions, fallen off the bandwagon or reverted to old habits. It’s really easy to make goals but keeping them and actually working towards them is ten time’s harder!
I’m doing pretty well so far (it’s obviously early days) but I’m only human and I often find myself stuck in a rut, confused as to where my motivation went. But that’s the key word isn’t it, the key ingredient to success because without motivation you won’t get very far.
So if you find yourself in a motivational slump then my advice would be to make a list of the reasons that you want to achieve your goals, the why behind each aim. I thought I would start you off by sharing mine.
Me // Something inside me makes me want to be successful and I guess that I am naturally ambitious. I want to be able to say that I worked as hard as I possibly could.
My family // I assume this is a pretty common one but my family are always a motivational factor because I want to make them proud.
I want to matter // I want to make a difference to the world, so this is always at the forefront of my mind. I’d love to leave the planet knowing that I made it a little better.
Prove other’s wrong // We all have people who tell us that we can’t do it, that for whatever reason they believe that we will fail and proving them wrong is always a satisfying experience.
What motivates you?
