“And I got that red lip, classic thing that you like”.
You might remember that a few months ago I purchased my very first MAC lipstick, Lady Danger, a beautiful orange-red. Yet no MAC collection is complete without the famed and adored Ruby Woo. So it was only a matter of time before I added this beauty to my collection.
Red lipstick is a worthwhile investment, they’re classic, versatile and flattering for any skintone, so when opting for an expensive lipstick, red is always a safe bet. Originally a symbol of glamour (Thanks Marilyn) the red lip has become a staple of our everyday beauty routines and most people have at least one or one hundred hidden away in their draws. I’m no exception and I’m always looking to add new shades.
There’s something about red lipstick that automatically makes you feel a million dollars, like you’ve made an effort even when you haven’t, adding a polished finish so any look.
I love this true red lipstick but it’s not my favourite and I don’t find it to be particularly flattering to my skin. I personally find orange-red lipsticks to be most flattering my skin tones and this blue-toned pretty, just seems to bring out the redness in my skin, something that I always look to avoid. It’s definitely a luxurious colour and it’s versatility is unmeasurable, it’s smart enough for the office and yet sexy enough for an evening meal and definitely one to have in your handbag.
The consistency is classically creamy and this has to be my longest lasting red. I’ve always carried a red lipstick in my handbag in case of an emergency and currently this is my red of choice.
Yet all that said it is defiantly an “occassional” lipstick for me and not something that I can seem myself wearing all that often. But hey, you can never have too many reds in your collection.
