It’s Tuesday and that means it’s time for my tips and this week we are talking about how to be positive!
I like to think of myself as being a relatively positive person, I’m quite bubbly and chatty most of the time but I’m only human and sometimes it can be hard to be cheery. Things go wrong, life is a lot tougher than people tell you it is and sometimes positivity can waver.
But nonetheless I do think it’s important to be positive as much as possible and these are my tips!
Be grateful // It’s amazing what being grateful can do for your mood and I’ve really taken to writing myself regular gratitude lists. We are such a negative species on the whole and so we often over look the sheer amount of good that’s actually in our lives. Taking time to remember the good is crucial to being a positive person so take the time to regularly do this.
Help other people // I have recently become obsessed with Avenue Q (more to follow) and there’s a song in the musical that perfectly sums up exactly the point I am making;

You can’t help helping yourself
Like much of the statical musical, it’s incredibly true because when you help other people you really do get a good feeling in return. I try to help people regularly, whether it be buying a homeless person a coffee, donating to charity or even just sending a message to a friend who is having a hard time. When you help someone it’s a win-win situation because they feel better and so do you.
Be kind to yourself // We spend so much time working, thinking about other people and even living in the past that we often neglect ourselves. How often do you compare yourself to other people? I know that I do it at least five times a day but probably even more and it ends up making me feel pretty terrible, yet being kind to yourself is a sure fire way to feel positive. When you wake up in the morning make a list of three things you like about yourself and that will set you up for the day.
Do the things you love // I guess this is kind of linked to the above point but as well as being kind to yourself, try doing more of the things that you enjoy doing. I love reading, watching documentaries or re-watching much loved rom-com’s and when I do these things I generally feel a lot happier. Of course these things will differ form person to person but whatever you enjoy doing, do more of it!
