Favourite Brushes

I was really struggling with ideas for this weeks posts, so on Sunday I decided to run through my previous posts and see what was missing. And here it is, because up until now I haven’t done a favourite brush post.

I guess I use my brushes so often (every single day) that I almost forget how important they are and how hard it can be to find the right brushes for you. So today I thought that I would share with you my faves.

1- Foundation Brush!

Until fairly recently my preferred foundation application technique was to use my fingers (I know, totally medieval right), but for a few weeks now I have been loving the Real Techniques buffing brush. This thick brush is perfect for blending liquad foundation in to your skin, and I love using mine in conjunction with my current foundation fave (YSL Touche Eclat). I find that this brush creates a natural, even but full coverage and is great for a quick application technique. I also love using it to blend in my Bourjois Bronzing Primer, so it has more than one purpose and is an all-around awesome brush. The best bit these brushes are super reasonable and this one can be picked up as part of the Core Collection, for just £21.99. Go get it people!

2- Concealer Brush!

Ok so this is technically a foundation brush, but since acquiring it in December, I have been using the Mary Kay Liquid Foundation brush every single day. I’m not a fan of using flat brushes for foundation, I just don’t get it, but I really love apply my concealer with this beauty. It helps press the concealer in to the skin, helping it set and blend in flawlessly, providing full coverage on all blemishes. A newbie to this brand, I am going to be looking at the rest of their brushes in the future.

3- Blush Brush (poet much?)

It has taken me an eternity (slight exaggeration) to find a blusher brush that really works for me, but a few weeks ago that all changed. Walking through Boots one afternoon, I discovered the Ecotools Tapered blush brush and the rest is history as they say. This super soft, super fluffy and super lovely brush is perfect for adding a light flush of colour to any complexion. I love lightly brushing this along my cheek bones, because it manages to apply the perfect amount of colour. I would recommend this to anyone and at just £7.99, it is a steal.

4- Ecotools Flat eyeliner.

You can tell that I love this bad boy as this is now the second post that it has been featured in. (It actually made it in to my Feb Favourites, I love it!!). This month I have found myself shying away from my bold, dark and harsh kohl pencils and instead opting for the softness of an eyeshadow. Pretty much every day since purchasing it, I’ve been dipping this brush in the shade nooner from the Naked 3 palette and dragging it along my lower lash line. It keeps the general look soft but at the same time defines the eye and the brown shade helps to warm my eyes up.

What are your favourite brushes?

  • I love make up brushes! Maybe even more than make up itself. Ecotools were the first brushes I ever tried and they are such good qaulity for price. I really like the look of the new brushes with the darker metal bit. Might have to get a couple :3
