•Inspired by other bloggers.
Over the last few weeks I’ve seen a lot of people writing pledge type posts, pledging to be kinder to themselves or to take something back that they had previously lost. While reading these posts it dawned on me that while my 2015 goals were important to me and in a way they are intrinsically linked, there is one step that I need to take in order to achieve them all. So I decided that it was time for me to make my own pledge…..
In 2015 I will take back my self-esteem.
Self-esteem and confidence are two distinctly different things and yet they are both important to the other. In order to achieve my 2015 goals, it’s crucial that I improve my self-esteem and therefore my confidence with it. So this year I am going to work on getting my self-esteem back.
In the past I’ve made the mistake of relying on other people to give me esteem and while I still want to be respected, I understand that not everyone will like me and you know what, that’s ok.
So my mission is to learn to believe in myself more, to take pride in myself and what I do. Each day I’m going to take steps towards this, such as talking nicer to myself, doing things that I enjoy and ensuring that I journal daily. Perhaps I’ll report back on how it goes.
What are you going to take back this year?
